Kazu's New Shino Glaze
Kazu is excited to introduce about new style of glaze, new Shino glaze.
His new Shino glaze is the result of years of artistry.
It is the meeting point between the goofy and sophisticated aesthetic of Shino.
This will be just one of the elements in this exhibition at Sara.
It will be presented alongside his other works for you to come and enjoy!
A native from Kobe, Japan, Oba first moved to the states in 1989. He studie d under two masters. In 1999 he began his apprenticeship under sculptor Jerry Wingren and has frequently worked with him internationally. In 2003 and 2004, Kazu apprenticed under Takashi Nakazato in Karatsu, one of the oldest ceramic centers of Japan.
In past years, he traveled to show and produce work at art centers in Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Washington, NYC, Arizona, New Mexico and back in Colorado. His w ork has been shown at Ichibankan Gallery in Fukuoka, Japan, Manyoudou in Ginza, Tokyo, The Smithsonian, Walker Fine Art in Denver and Sara Japanese Pottery in NYC. His work is in the permanent collection of Denver Art Museum, Idemitsu Museum in Tokyo and Grimmerhus (Museum of International Ceramic Art) in Denmark.
