Shigaraki Vase by Mike Weber

This is Mike's brand new Shigaraki Vase.
It is a great result of natural ash glaze.
The gray color is trapped carbon, and there is dry and wet emerald color all over.
The heavy bottom gives the piece a strong appearance and weight.
Hope you enjoy.

The Beauty of Natural Ash Glaze

To more enjoy the works from our artists, we'd like to introduce one of the beautiful part of the pottery.

The Beauty of Natural Ash Glaze
Natural ash glaze is a type of firing where wood ash adheres to surfaces in the kiln, and at high temperatures infuses itself into the glaze and onto the ceramic.
Rusted iron surface, emerald glass, desert, stone surface, drift wood...
Natural ash glaze has many different outcomes that the artist cannot predict.
